24973 (2026). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Corrections: What steps, if any, are taken if key evidential documents relied upon in recall proceedings cannot later be located?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that if key documents relied upon in recall proceedings cannot later be located, Corrections will take steps to:
• attempt to locate the original documents
• check alternative systems or sources for copies
• explain the situation and any limitations to the New Zealand Parole Board.
Where gaps in historical information are identified, staff make reasonable efforts to locate and provide as much relevant information as possible from available sources. The Parole Board can take this into account when assessing the reliability and weight of the available information.
