24961 (2026). Rawiri Waititi to the Minister of Corrections: What safeguards, if any, exist to ensure that information provided to the Parole Board is accurate and complete to support recall hearings?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections has processes in place to support the accuracy and completeness of information provided to the New Zealand Parole Board. These include:
• preparing reports using structured templates and guidance
• reviewing information against case records and relevant sources
• internal quality assurance and management oversight
• providing supporting documents where available.
I am further assured that where new or updated information becomes available, it is provided to the Parole Board as soon as practicable to ensure they have the most complete information available. All information and evidence provided to the Parole Board in support of a recall application is sworn or affirmed prior to the application being made.
