24934 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Finance: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Auckland Region, as at 30 May 2024?
Hon Nicola Willis: The Treasury is currently working toward a reduction of approximately 50 roles through attrition, the ending of fixed term roles and removal of vacancies.
Since December 2023, the Treasury has initiated the centralisation of new and existing vacancies, aiming to decrease the total number of roles.
They are still determining the outcome for these centralised roles, including the number that will be discontinued versus those that might be filled, including in the Auckland Region.
No redundancies have been proposed as part of the cost savings initiatives.
