Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How many roles, if any, were created in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025, listed by job title and number of roles under each job title?

Hon Louise Upston: The Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) has provided the attached table of roles that have been created on their systems between 30 May 2024 and 22 May 2025. Note: the majority of these roles have come from new functions being added to the Ministry, updates to positions to reflect the outcome of change processes (noting that the overall impact of these processes in 2024 was a net reduction of 86 people) or other administrative position changes that were captured as a system change. This means that a high number of the roles created in the system did not change the net number of people in the Ministry. Note that the Ministry’s FTE at 30 May 2024 was 8,976 and at 22 May 2025 was 8996.4 FTE, despite acquiring a number of new functions or additional funding (refer to my response to WPQ 24804 (2025).
