Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Acting Minister for Women: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Otago Region, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Louise Upston: I have been advised that the Ministry for Women will not be reappointing five vacant positions as part of their plan to meet the 7.5 percent savings target. I have also been advised that as part of the Ministry’s commitment to ongoing financial sustainability, the Chief Executive is currently consulting on a change proposal focused on the tier 2 leadership team. Final decisions will be made after consultation on the proposal. All Ministry for Women staff are Wellington based.
