Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that, since 1 January 2024, no changes have been made to custodial staffing ratios, staffing models, staffing allocations, roster models, minimum staffing levels, or post coverage at prison sites in connection with savings, optimisation, scaling, reprioritisation, fiscal sustainability, or efficiency initiatives. During this period, Spring Hill Corrections Facility (SHCF), Arohata Prison, Auckland Prison, Auckland Region Women’s Corrections Facility (ARWCF), and Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF) have transitioned to a variable shift staffing model, which has resulted in increased full-time equivalent (FTE) staffing at these sites.
