24581 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Transport: What restructures, if any, are planned for the 2025/26 financial year in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, listed by when this may occur, how much is budgeted for restructuring costs and estimated savings to be accrued as a result of restructuring?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised by the Ministry of Transport that there is a consultation process currently underway for a Corporate Service change proposal, which includes the Corporate Services and Performance & Governance Groups. The decision will be made in the 2025/26 financial year. A budget has not been set for restructuring costs such as redundancy payments, severance, or other termination packages as we will look to reassign or redeploy affected staff into other positions in line with our contractual obligations. I am advised that NZTA expects organisational change processes to occur in 2025/26 to better align teams and group structures with the new Government Policy Statement on land transport 2024. Budget and potential savings for any organisation change activities have yet to be finalised.
