Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Transport: How much, if anything, is being budgeted in the 2025/26 financial year for redundancy payments, severance or other termination packages in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how much has been budgeted and spent in the past five financial years?

Hon Chris Bishop: I can advise that The Ministry of Transport do not currently and have never set a budget for redundancy payments, severance or other termination packages. NZTA have informaed me that they do not have a specific budget for redundancy, severance, or other equivalent termination payments. Spend for the past five years is detailed below: - 2024/25 (to 28 Feb 2025): $3,874,160 - 2023/24: $2,231,550 - 2022/23: $1,441,306 - 2021/22: $458,308 - 2020/21: $1,595,532 - 2019/20: $1,076,158.
