Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: How much, if anything, is being budgeted in the 2025/26 financial year for redundancy payments, severance or other termination packages in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how much has been budgeted and spent in the past five financial years?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: There is no set budget for redundancy, severance or other termination packages in the draft budget for 2025/26. However, a nominal amount is set aside in the organisation’s budget for redundancies. I am advised that Stats NZ prepares its budgets for redundancy payments, severance, or other termination packages on a case-by-case basis.
