24563 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Sport and Recreation: What restructures, if any, are planned for the 2025/26 financial year in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, listed by when this may occur, how much is budgeted for restructuring costs and estimated savings to be accrued as a result of restructuring?
Hon Mark Mitchell: The strategic policy function in the Sport NZ Group is being transferred to the Ministry of Culture & Heritage (MCH) following a Ministerial decision to align the function to the structure of other ministries and crown agencies. This is currently being worked through with MCH, and other supporting government agencies, and is expected to be concluded during the 2025/2026 financial year.
Nothing has been budgeted for restructuring costs and there is no expected savings expected as a result.
The Sport Integrity Commission will implement a new structure starting on 1 July. Implementation of the changes will incur recruitment, change management, and staff support costs, estimated at $130,000.
There are no savings that are anticipated because of the restructure.
