24520 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Transport: Of any proposed redundancies to their responsible agencies to meet the a public sector saving initiative, if any, how many directly provide a service to customers, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that Maritime New Zealand has returned 5% or $0.525m of baseline Crown funding through savings in maritime regulatory policy advice and recent maritime security uplift as part of Budget 2024. This involved the disestablishment of three vacant roles. One in the frontline security area and two roles that develop regulations. As these are vacancies, demographic data about who would have filled them is not known. I am further advised that due to the nature of Maritime New Zealand’s work as a regulatory and response agency no programmes have been cancelled as a result of these savings.
