24519 (2026). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections

24519 (2026). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What “site-specific operational changes”, if any, referred to in Vote Corrections 2026/27 are expected, forecast, planned, or assumed to be implemented during 2026/27, broken down by prison site, expected timing, and nature of the change?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections operates in a dynamic environment, and continuous improvement requires the ongoing refinement of both service delivery and site operations. This includes monitoring the prison population based on current and historical trends. Corrections can then review the prison network to ensure staffing numbers and facilities around the country are appropriately resourced.
I am further advised that Corrections makes numerous site-specific operational changes throughout each year, and that identifying details of all these site-specific changes for this request would require significant manual collation and research, which I am not prepared to ask my officials for the purpose of this response.
