24442 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Pacific Peoples: How much, if anything, is being budgeted in the 2025/26 financial year for redundancy payments, severance or other termination packages in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how much has been budgeted and spent in the past five financial years?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (the Ministry) that no redundancies, severance or other termination packages are planned or budgeted for in the 2025/26 financial year. This also applies for the previous five years, as the Ministry funded all redundancies through its baseline. Therefore, the redundancy spend funded by the Ministry’s baseline for the previous five years are as follows: 2024/25 - zero redundancies (Nil cost) 2023/24 - 47 redundancies ($1.401m) 2022/23 - zero redundancies (Nil cost) 2021/22 - one redundancy ($35,000) 2020/21 - zero redundancies (Nil cost).
