24423 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Land Information: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Otago Region, as at 30 May 2024?
Hon Chris Penk: I am advised that these decisions are the responsibility of the Chief Executive.
LINZ has a total of 871 employees as at 30 May 2024 (head count).
As part of its ongoing operating and fiscal review, Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) has disestablished 54 (6.2%) vacant roles and completed a change process that has resulted in three confirmed redundancies (0.34%) (to be implemented on 1 July).
LINZ is currently undertaking another consultation on a proposal to disestablish four (0.46%) roles, subject to consultation with staff and final decisions.
LINZ has offices in Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch therefore any disestablished roles would be in one of these three regions.
