24407 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Police: Of any proposed redundancies to their responsible agencies to meet the a public sector saving initiative, if any, how many directly provide a service to customers, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that as well as a significant investment in Police through the Budget, Police have also been asked to make savings of $55million. Police has signalled to staff that to make these savings will require operating with fewer corporate support staff going forward. The detailed design work has now been commissioned. At this point, no decisions have been made and Police inform me they will have more information in August. The Serious Fraud Office only has staff or offices located in the Auckland and Wellington Region. The Serious Fraud Office has not disestablished any roles in relation to the directive to reduce expenditure and is not currently consulting on any proposals which would result in the loss of jobs. As of 30 May 2024, the Serious Fraud Office is conducting an organisational efficiency and effectiveness review that includes considering what vacancies will not be filled, if any.
