Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How much, if any, has been budgeted for the Carbon Neutral Government Programme in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any for the 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026 financial year?

Hon Brooke van Velden: The Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) I am advised by the Department that approximately one full-time equivalent (FTE) will be dedicated to measuring, monitoring, and reporting of the Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP) for the 1 July 2025 - 30 June 2026 financial year. The Department has also budgeted for the purchase of carbon offsets for departmental emissions in alignment with our target emissions. The Lotteries Commission I am advised that collating the information requested requires substantial collation and cannot be provided in the timeframe to respond to the Written Question. Fire and Emergency New Zealand I am advised that for the 2025/26 year Fire and Emergency has budgeted $13,201 plus GST for audit and certification fees. Office of Film and Literature Classification (the Classification Office) I am advised that, as a small independent Crown entity, the Classification Office is not covered by the carbon neutral government programme and is not required to measure, report or offset on its greenhouse gas emissions. The Classification Office has allocated $1,900 towards carbon neutral initiatives for the 2025-26 financial year.
