24400 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs
Written Question
Published date: 09 Jun 2025
24400 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How much, if anything, is being budgeted in the 2025/26 financial year for redundancy payments, severance or other termination packages in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, and how much has been budgeted and spent in the past five financial years?
Hon Brooke van Velden: The Department of Internal Affairs (the Department)
I am advised by the Department that the restructuring costs associated with the organisational change currently in progress are still being assessed and will be recognised in the 2024/25 financial year.
No further restructuring is planned for the 2025/26 financial year and therefore no redundancy payments are budgeted in the 2025/26. The Department does not normally budget for restructuring costs as these costs are normally met through reprioritisation. Restructuring costs are disclosed in the notes to the Department’s financial statements. I therefore refer the member to the Department’s annual reports for restructuring costs incurred in the past financial years.
