Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What portion of the additional operating funding provided through Vote Corrections 2026/27, if any, is attributable to rehabilitation, reintegration, education, vocational training, mental health, alcohol and other drug, therapeutic, or other programme expansion, expressed in both dollar terms and as a percentage of the total additional operating funding?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that of the additional funding provided to address increasing prisoner volumes, $78.728 million has been allocated to the Reducing Reoffending appropriation over the forecast period. This is 16 percent of the total additional funding for Corrections in Budget 2026 (excluding tagged contingencies).
