24352 (2026). Hon Damien O'Connor to the Minister for Trade and Investment: What new spending initiatives in Budget 2026, if any, are directed specifically at promoting investment into India or supporting New Zealand businesses entering the Indian market, and what is the appropriation and expected outcome of each?
Hon Todd McClay: New Zealand will undertake trade and investment promotion activities in both India and New Zealand to highlight investment and broader business opportunities in India for New Zealand businesses. This will build on and expand existing promotional activities, including those run by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and through our High Commission in India.
For NZTE, no new spending initiatives in Budget 2026 are directed specifically at promoting investment into India or supporting New Zealand businesses entering the India market. NZTE’s activity in India is supported through baseline and cross agency funding. As noted in WPQ 24353 work is currently underway on how NZTE will support New Zealand business investment activity in India.
