Hon Damien O'Connor to the Minister of Defence: How many homes, at which bases, will be delivered under the Defence Capability Plan – Homes for Families Tranche 1, Part 4 initiative funded in Budget 2026 (which provides funding, partly held in contingency, for residential dwellings at Trentham, Ohakea, Linton, Woodbourne, Waiouru and Burnham), and what is the forecast cost per home, if any?

Hon Chris Penk: This initiative supports the early delivery phase of the programme, enabling planning, site investigations, detailed design, and market engagement to progress approximately 90 modern residential dwellings for military personnel and their families at Waiouru Military Camp, RNZAF Base Ohakea, Linton Military Camp, Trentham Military Camp, RNZAF Base Woodbourne, and Burnham Military Camp. Public release of the estimated cost per home would unreasonably prejudice negotiations.
