Hon Damien O'Connor to the Minister of Defence: What is the forecast cost and scope of the Defence Capability Plan – Maritime Platform Restoration Activities – ANZAC Frigates and HMNZS Canterbury initiative funded in Budget 2026 (approximately $71.5 million of operating and $142.6 million of capital funding), and to what operational availability date is each platform expected to be maintained, if any?

Hon Chris Penk: Part 1.1 of the Budget 2026 Estimates of Appropriations for Vote Defence Force has set the appropriations for the Maritime Platform Restoration Activities – ANZAC Frigates and HMNZS Canterbury to FY 2029/30. The future operational availability date for these platforms is subject to funding and Cabinet investment business case approval.
