Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Has the Minister received any advice that the reduced maintenance and depreciation assumed in the Kāinga Ora Expenditure Reductions saving in Budget 2026 will defer maintenance liabilities into future years; if so, what is the forecast deferred liability, and will the Minister release that advice?

Hon Chris Bishop: I have not received advice from Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities on this matter. Kāinga Ora advises me that the savings in maintenance and depreciation will not result in a deferred maintenance liability.
