24314 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Corrections: How many redundancy processes have been initiated, if any, in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, as at 22 May 2025, since 27 November 2023, and how much was the total cost in New Zealand dollar terms, if any?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections reports on redundancy processes through the Annual Review and Estimates select committee processes. Therefore, I refer the member to the Department of Corrections’ responses to question 118, on page 8, and question 117 on page 7, of the Annual Review questionnaire 2024/25, which provides the number of redundancy processes that have been initiated at Corrections between 27 November 2023 and 4 June 2024, and is available on Parliament’s website here: https://www.parliament.nz/resource/en-NZ/54SCJUST_EVI_340e6d7e-25ad-4bcf-02dc-08dc87b3b9bf_JUST13891/fd16654618ae9aeb97b63db636b69927296fdaa2. I am further advised that information for the period 5 June 2024 onwards will be provided by Corrections as part of the upcoming estimates questionnaire, specifically responses to questions 10 and 11, which will be available on Corrections’ website in due course here: https://www.corrections.govt.nz/resources/strategic_reports/select_committees. Regarding redundancy costs, at this time I have nothing further to add to my response to WPQ 7960 (2025). This is also my response to WPQ 24319 (2025).
