24311 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What proportion of the Vote Housing and Urban Development savings in Budget 2026 is attributable to (a) reduced asset maintenance, (b) reduced depreciation, (c) reduced programme delivery, and (d) other operating efficiencies that do not reduce role numbers, if any, broken down by agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible?
Hon Chris Bishop: As Minister of Housing, I note the savings in Vote Housing and Urban Development in Budget 2026, totalled to $758.71 million over the forecast period:
a) $331m is attributable to reduced asset maintenance, relating to the Kāinga Ora Expenditure Reductions initiative;
b) $37m is attributable to reduced depreciation, relating to the Kāinga Ora Expenditure Reductions initiative;
c) no savings are attributable to reduced programme delivery; and
d) $23m is attributable to other operating changes, relating to the Tāmaki Regeneration Company Delivery Commitments initiative, reflecting reduced development costs and acquisitions that are no longer required.
