24299 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Housing: Of any proposed redundancies to their responsible agencies to meet the a public sector saving initiative, if any, how many directly provide a service to customers, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that these decisions are the responsibility of the relevant Chief Executive. Furthermore, I am advised that Kāinga Ora is still working through the change processes resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure and recent Budget announcements. The specific level of savings and the number of employees whose roles have been, or are likely to be, disestablished is still subject to consultation or consideration and has not yet been finalised. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development does not have any roles that are customer facing. Therefore, should the changes currently under proposal be finalised no redundancies resulting from this will directly impact services to customers.
