24297 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: How much of the Rail Network Investment Programme 2027–2030 – Metropolitan Rail Networks Overdue Renewals initiative funded in Budget 2026 (approximately $106.9 million of capital for overdue Auckland and Wellington metropolitan rail renewals) is funded from reprioritised savings, and which specific renewal works will and will not proceed pending the review of the Metropolitan Rail Operating Model, if any?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Rail Network Investment Programme 2027–2030 – Metropolitan Rail Networks Overdue Renewals initiative was fully funded from reprioritised savings. I am yet to be advised on the specific renewal activities that will be undertaken and I am yet to agree the funding allocation between the Auckland and Wellington metropolitan rail networks. However, I do not expect the review of the Metropolitan Rail Operating Model to change the renewal activities that are funded.
