24296 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What activities, if any, will be funded under the Rail Network Investment Programme 2027–2030 – National Rail Freight Network initiative in Budget 2026 (which provides operating and capital funding held in tagged contingency for maintenance, operation and renewal of the national rail network), and what is the forecast funding in each financial year for (a) maintenance, (b) operations, and (c) renewals?

Hon Chris Bishop: The 2027-30 Rail Network Investment Programme (RNIP) is currently under development. The specific activities and forecast funding will be published once the 2027-30 RNIP has been agreed.
