24282 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What specific countries and programmes, if any, will receive funding under the International Development Cooperation to Support the Resilience of the Indo-Pacific Region initiative funded in Budget 2026 (approximately $109.75 million of operating funding for development cooperation and humanitarian assistance in the Pacific and Indo-Pacific), and what is the forecast allocation to each in each financial year?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: An additional NZ$100 million was baselined to the International Development Cooperation (IDC) appropriation for the 2027-30 triennium. This brings the IDC allocation for 2027-30 to NZ$2,946.5 million – a reduction of NZ$114 million from the 2024-27 triennium. The new funds are accompanied by a departmental allocation of 9.75% (NZ$9.75 million) for management of the IDC.
Programming for the new funding received in Budget 2026 will be driven by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s strategic planning process for the new triennium, which will confirm the geographic and thematic priorities for the IDC Programme.
