24267 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: Has Budget 2026 delivered an increase in the average amount available per claim for support services as part of historic claims/redress processes; if so, what is the new average per claim for support services?
Hon Erica Stanford: Budget 2025 provided an investment of $515.8 million over four years for redress improvement, including an average of $5,000 per claim for support services.
Feedback from survivors and the Royal Commission highlighted inconsistencies between what support services are offered across redress agencies. In response, both the work on Budget 2025 and the focus over the past year, including engagement with the Ministerial Advisory Group, have prioritised developing more consistent support service offerings.
