24236 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Customs: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what percentage of employees who have lost or are set to lose their roles, as well as vacancies that will not be filled, if any, are located in the Otago Region, as at 30 May 2024?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that these decisions are the responsibility of the Comptroller of the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs).
However, I am aware that 110 roles at Customs have been disestablished as part of Customs’ organisational change programme to meet required cost savings and future cost pressures.
I refer the Member to the attached table which provides a breakdown of the number of roles disestablished in each region as at 30 May 2024.
