24218 (2025). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister for Energy: Does he believe, as his predecessor Simeon Brown did, that an LNG terminal will be in place by the winter of 2026 by the latest?

Hon Simon Watts: LNG may play an important part in New Zealand's future energy mix. The option to import LNG was identified by industry, which is still working through its feasilbity. Options may take longer than winter 2026. However, the Government remains committed to removing regulatory barriers to LNG importation.
