24172 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Education: Of any proposed redundancies to their responsible agencies to meet the a public sector saving initiative, if any, how many directly provide a service to customers, as at 30 May 2024?

Hon Erica Stanford: These decisions are the responsibility of the relevant agency Chief Executive. However, the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) has publicly confirmed there is a proposed reduction of 755 Full Time Equivalent positions across the Ministry, with 316 of these roles currently vacant. I am advised that further information regarding the saving initiative is considered sensitive and should not be released until after this process is concluded. It is not in the public interest to release it at this time.
