24076 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Customs: What consultations are the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, planning to open on the week beginning Monday 19 May 2025 with employees around any changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions, and what is the proposed net change in roles?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that for the week beginning 19 May 2025, the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) has commenced two consultation processes with employees around proposed changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions. One consultation process is in Customs’ Information Services Group, and the proposed changes are: - six roles are disestablished (one of which is vacant) - 24 roles have minor changes - seven new roles have been created. The other consultation process is in Customs’ Finance Group, and the proposed changes are: - one vacant role disestablished - 10 roles have minor changes - one new role has been created. These consultation processes are expected to close on 30 May 2025.
