23966 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Has Southland Hospital’s emergency department been formally assessed against any national or international standards for "safe, effective and dignified care" since 2023, and if so, what were the findings of that assessment?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that while Southland Hospital’s emergency department has not undergone such an assessment, Health New Zealand continues to deliver much needed care as part of our Government's focus on putting patients first and ensuring that all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare.
