23920 (2025). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Associate Minister of Housing: Have there been any changes to the timeline for the review of the Retirement Villages Act as set out on the HUD website that states cabinet decisions are expected between November and December 2025 with an amendment bill to the Act potentially introduced in July 2026?

Hon Tama Potaka: Yes. The initial timeline considered in October 2024 indicated policy decisions to go to Cabinet in mid-2026 and then a Bill introduction in early 2027. In March 2025, my officials advised me they could accelerate the timeframe so that policy decisions would look to go to Cabinet now in November-December this year and then an estimated Bill introduction in mid-2026.
