23888 (2025). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for Food Safety: Has he seen any scientific studies on the long-term health risks of glyphosate exposure, and if so, what are these by title and date?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: No. New Zealand Food Safety completed a food safety assessment for the proposed maximum residue levels for glyphosate and advised there is no food safety concern. Glyphosate is also approved under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 and was assessed against public health and environmental considerations. The Environmental Protection Authority announced in July 2024 there were no grounds for reassessment of glyphosate in response to an application to request its reassessment.
