23880 (2025). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for Food Safety: Has an environmental impact assessment been conducted to evaluate the effects of increased glyphosate use on soil and water quality, if so, what is this by title and date?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: Environmental impact assessments fall within the responsibility of the environment portfolio. This aspect is managed by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) through the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996. Glyphosate is also approved under this Act, and the EPA announced in July 2024 there were no grounds for reassessment in response to an application to request its reassessment.
