23872 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence: Does she think there will be more underreporting of family harm, if Police step away from responding to family harm callouts?

Hon Karen Chhour: I have not received any advice on this matter. The New Zealand Crime and Victim Survey is the key source of regular data available to understand the proportion of family violence and sexual violence that comes to the attention of agencies, so people get the help they need. I note that “Family Harm” is a NZ Police specific term and I encourage the Member to refer any further questions to the Minister of Police.
