23650 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: How many, if any, Lake Alice survivors of abuse in care, including torture, has the Crown Response Office proactively contacted since 18 December 2024?
Hon Erica Stanford: The Ministry of Health proactively contacted all previous claimants relating to the Lake Alice Child and Adolescent Unit, whose contact details were known, to advise them at the commencement of the scheme. In addition, the Crown Response Unit and my office used a range of channels to notify people about the scheme including media release, newsletters, emails, contacting survivors of the Lake Alice Unit previously engaged with, and survivor groups. Since the implementation of the scheme the Crown Response Office has been in touch with individual survivors of the Lake Alice Unit via phone, letter, email, online, and in person.
