23647 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions: Is the reimbursement for Lake Alice survivors of abuse in care who settled a claim against the Crown in 2001 full and final?

Hon Erica Stanford: The reimbursement is for the legal fees deducted from a survivor's payment, it is not a settlement payment. I note that at the time the Labour led Government was requested by the survivors' lawyer to cover legal fees and refused.
