23400 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How has Te Mātaiaho been utilised, if at all, in the draft Year 7-13 English Curriculum?

Hon Erica Stanford: Te Mātaiaho (the name gifted to the NZ Curriculum framework) is still being developed, building on and strengthening earlier work. A full draft of the overarching Te Mātaiaho framework is planned to be released for sector and public consultation in Term 4, 2025. It will then be refined based on feedback received. The fully refreshed NZ Curriculum is currently planned to be required from the beginning of 2027. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 23404 and 23405 (2025).
