23330 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter October to December 2023 toward implementing the recommendation ‘we also need accurate data on current and projected demand for HCSS by Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ, especially for older people with high health needs’ in the Aged Care Commissioner’s report ‘Amplifying the voices of older people across Aotearoa New Zealand’?
Hon Casey Costello: The Aged Care Commissioner's report, Amplifying the voices of older people across Aotearoa New Zealand, was published in March 2024, which was after the October-December 2023 quarter. I am advised that in the October-December 2023 quarter, Health New Zealand continued work on the review of funding and service models for aged care services. The purpose is to address many of the issues raised in the Aged Care Commissioner’s Report, including recommendations that will, over time, improve the sustainability of services and ensure equity of access and outcomes for older people across New Zealand.
