23308 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Prime Minister: Does the Prime Minister agree with the Minister of Immigration's statement that when she receives emails "from people in India asking for immigration advice, which I never respond to. I almost regard those as being akin to spam"; if so, how, if at all, does this statement contribute towards the Government's focus on an "all of New Zealand effort" towards New Zealand's relationship with India?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: The Minister of Immigration was specifically referring to unsolicited emails sent to her personal email address from people offshore requesting personal immigration advice. I am advised that when she gave that answer she was thinking of some specific examples of unsolicited emails she had received to her personal email address. The Minister has no ministerial responsibility for providing personal immigration advice to people overseas.
