23098 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Revenue: How, if at all, does the Minister believe that the passage of a Regulatory Standards Bill would affect the quality of regulation and outcomes within their portfolio area?

Hon Simon Watts: Inland Revenue has one of the largest stocks of existing legislation. Inland Revenue engages with the sector to develop policy and legislation that is fit for purpose, where possible under the generic tax policy process. Following enactment, the feedback loop between the sector and Inland Revenue remains open to ensure that the law works as intended. Remedial changes to tax legislation are regularly considered by Parliament. Passage of the Regulatory Standards Bill would support quality assurance measures already in place within the portfolio.
