22913 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January–March 2024 in implementing the goal ‘Older people in our care and at the end-of-life will receive care that optimises quality of life until death', as part of the Ageing Well Action Plan?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that this is an immediate action in Corrections’ Ageing Well Action Plan, which is underway. Corrections is incorporating principles and guidance for last days of life (Te Are Whakapiri) as part of a redevelopment of the Patient Management System (PMS), which it uses to record and monitor the health and wellbeing of people in prison. I am further advised that in due course, staff education and support will be delivered to coincide with the implementation of the new PMS.
