22912 (2025). Rachel Boyack to the Minister of Health: What clinical criteria or decision-making tools were used to assess the 275 urology patients who were removed from the Nelson Marlborough waitlist following non-contact file reviews, if any?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that standard, best-practice clinical criteria in current day-to-day use by consultant urologists were used in the assessment of the 275 Urology Patients. These patients received a First Specialist Appointment in accordance with Health New Zealand standards and policies. Their episode of care was completed, the GP and patient informed, and the referral was closed. Ensuring that urology patients' needs are addressed is a key part of our Government's focus on putting patients first and ensuring that all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare.
