Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Further to reply 17229, what evidence has the Minister received, if any, that suggests that "when community organisations are reliant on funding from gambling there can be an incentive to increase gambling in order to increase the funding to these organisations"?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I received the briefing ‘Confirmation of the high-level design of the online casino gambling regulatory system’ from the Department on 7 June 2024 that highlighted the risk that requiring community funding from gambling can make it more difficult to make policy changes to reduce gambling, because this may result in less funding for community groups.
