Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Does he stand by his answer to oral question 8 on 2 April 2025 that “if you look at Nelson Hospital, there has been an increase in clinical staff at that hospital since we came to Government, ” given that his answer to written question 19289 (2025) states that Health New Zealand does not hold information relating to the number of clinical staff who were employed specifically at Nelson Hospital?

Hon Simeon Brown: In the context it was made, yes. As I said in Written Parliamentary Question 16322 (2025), I am advised that the number of clinical staff who have a location of Nelson has increased by 4.85 per cent under our Government, as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring that all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare.
