22761 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: How many Early Childhood Education Centres are currently open in all regions of New Zealand, excluding the cities of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, broken down by amount of centres per region?

Hon David Seymour: I refer the Member to the attached table showing the number of Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centres currently open in New Zealand as at 12 May 2025, broken down by region. The data is based on timely and accurate information provided to the Ministry of Education. ECE centres include the following services: • Casual-Education and Care • Education and Care Services • Free Kindergarten • Homebased Network • Hospital based • Playcentre • Te Kohanga Reo. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 22762, 22763, 22764 and 22769 (2025).
