22640 (2024). Hon Peeni Henare to the Attorney-General: What briefings, if any, has the Minister or their Office received during the period 27 November 2023 to 28 May 2024, listed by agency, title and date received?

Hon Judith Collins: Crown Law regularly provides briefings concerning legal advice and litigation proceedings before the Courts to the Attorney-General. In many, if not most, cases these briefings attract privilege, including legal advice and litigation privileges. Determining privilege requires review and, sometimes, consultation with other Ministers. Regarding Parliamentary Counsel Office & Crown Law, I do not believe it is a good use of resource to search six months of such briefings in the circumstances. I would be prepared to reconsider this request if the member wishes to be more specific about the information he requires.
